March Madness At Turner

Cool show coming to Turner Hall Ballroom in March of 2010: The Big Pink and A Place To Bury Strangers.

And tickets are only $10!!!!!

The Big Pink are a new band from overseas that dropped a new CD this year called A Brief History Of Love. I'd say the album is melodic, Jesus and Mary Chain-inspired alt-rock, with  some groovy, synth numbers thrown in for good measure. The tune "Dominoes" is a standout. One of the better albums of the year.

A Place To Bury Strangers is a noise rock band from the U.S. who opened for Nine Inch Nails and defintely owe a debt or two to Trent Reznor. APTBS has a new disc appropriately titled Exploding Head; it rocks your socks off...and your shirt, and pants, and boxers. Surprisingly there are some real catchy tracks on this disc too, amid all the aural chaos.

So for a ten piece this is a real deal. In an intimate setting to boot.
