2009 will undoubtedly be remembered as the year of celebrity deaths. Some were not surprising, while others shocked us.

2010 is off to one hell of a start.

Alt rocker Jay Reatard - who recently played Milwaukee - died this week at age 29. He had a batch of critically acclaimed albums.

Personally I didn't care for the guy but just the fact that he died so young -coming off the inexplicable death of actress Brittany Murphy - is shocking and tragic.

In celebrity-dom fragile souls sometimes hang in the balance.Some do not survive to see their careers blossom. They burn out instead of fading away.

Sadly Reatard is yet another in a long lineage of these talented young individuals taken before their time.
